I am at my best when I am on the trails walking, hiking, or just being my quirky self, busting out a dance move to the sound of my beats in the middle of nowhere!
Today was a bit different.
About 5 miles into my gratitude walk, I noticed that my stomach was bloated, my mind wandering, and I was not at peace with myself.
I was constipated.
Without thinking, I announced to my fellow walker that I felt constipated. She looked at me and burst out laughing.
I just waved her off because she was too caught up in the beauty of a running stream nearby.
Wow! she exclaimed as she stared at the water beating against the rocks.
Normally I would be in awe of the beauty of nature, but today I felt detached and empty.
As I watched the water, it hit me! The water was perfectly and effortlessly flowing as if it was one with the mountain. Pushing away any and everything in its path. It was entirely absorbed in the activity of flowing, flushing out the dead leaves, insects, and anything that didn’t belong, leaving a clean crystal clear beauty behind.
Unlike me, it was not constipated!
At that moment I started thinking about my life. Thinking about the areas that were flowing effortlessly– like the waterfall.
As I continued my walk, a bit further down, a nasty stench hit me!
The water was no longer moving so effortlessly, even with the same hard push, the piled up dead leaves and other garbage wouldn’t give way, creating a big unattractive puddle with a nasty stench.
Yep, you guess right, it was a sign of constipation.
Being constipated is no fun! Everything is constrained, restricted and uncomfortable. In other words, there is no movement!
The worst part is, in this state, everything feels off, and you want to push the backup out of your life, seeking a release, even though you know if you push too hard, it could bring about more harm than good.
Just like the water, our body and mind naturally clean and heals itself to perform at optimum level! However, when we don’t take care of it, shit starts backing up!
Leaving us physically and emotionally constipated.
What is happening in your life?
Is life hitting you hard, no matter how hard you try you can’t seem to get ahead?
Is constipation causing emotional or physical pain?
Just like that stream, when we are constipated others can smell our stench from afar.
It manifests in helplessness, depression, angry and resentment. You stop being you and you blame everything and everyone for your problems but you.
Now you know why no one wants to be around you. Yep, you took the word out of my mouth.. constipation!
The good news is with a few adjustments you can start getting back that effortless flow. But keep in mind, it is a process…
Uhm.. no, I don’t mean prune juice!
Try these 4 tips
- Change your environment – Don’t waste your time trying to change people, just change the people you choose to be around.
- Change the people in your life – If the people in your life makes you more miserable than they make you happy, it doesn’t matter how much you love them. They are constipating you, LET THEM GO!
- Change your thoughts – Your life is a reflection of your thoughts. If you change your thinking, you change your life.. remember, FREE FLOW!
- Change your diet – Just like the waterfall, your body is a reflection of what you are. So change your diet, and you change your physiology, and you heal—no more constipation.
If you want to change your life, you must change your mindset. When you change your mindset, you change your reality, and everything in your world will change with it.
Ask yourself am I constipated?
And I am not referring to your bowel movements…
